Plowday

It snows on your Mac.
Shovel it.
Blow it.
Plow it.

Watch it snow.

Snow falls on your Mac desktop and piles up on the windows and the Dock. You set the weather, and the live preview shows it at once. Then the shovel, the snow blower and the plow dig out.

Clear the snow.

Three tools. Each one clears snow in its own way. A tool goes away after 45 seconds without input.

A shovel lifts a load of snow off the snowy top of a dark window. A gap in the pile shows where the scoop came from.
In the demo

Shovel ⌃⌥S

Scoop a pile and throw it. One scoop at a time.

Snow blower ⌃⌥B

Hold the mouse on a pile. The chute throws the snow in an arc. Point the chute at the glass and the snow splats on the screen. Scroll to turn the chute.

An orange winter-service truck with a lit beacon bar plows the top of a light window, blade down. A berm of snow rolls in front of the blade. A round target on the berm shows where the cursor steers. Behind the truck the top is clear and wet.

The plow ⌃⌥P

Steer the plow along your windows and the Dock. An orange winter-service truck pushes the berm in front of it and off the edge of the screen.

Heater

Snow melts where it lands. No tool, no truck.

Drag a window.
Its snow slides off.

Each window carries its own pile. Move the window and the pile falls off the edge.

A browser window flicked to the left. Its snow breaks into lumps that fall across its title bar.

It stays out of the way.

No permissions to grant. Plowday reads only window positions.

Sound
The app mixes its sounds live: a two-stroke blower, a diesel plow, a reverse beeper, the scrape of the shovel. Tool sounds are on by default. Wind is off by default.

Set the weather.

The demo snows one fixed amount. The full version has these controls. Flurries, Snow or Blizzard, with a live preview of each change. Wind, flake size and pile depth. Start with snow, Build-up and the slide-off speed. Choose where the snow piles up: windows, the Dock, the bottom of the screen. Each tool has a shortcut.
