An automated scan checks for the problems it knows how to find. Some parts of an application only become visible after signing in, changing roles or following a particular set of steps.
A review connects those checks to how the software is used. It asks whether an important business rule can fail, even when an automated tool reports no issue.
Ask what was examined.
A useful report names the systems and access included in the work. It explains which questions were answered and where a further review would help.
That gives you a basis for deciding what to address next.
